you cry as you watch the television
’cause the stories never change
you wonder where’s the happy endings
in a sea of endless tragedies
every morning on the front page
are stories of crimes and murder victims
you wonder how to ever bring a child
into the chaos of this world
streaming through the airwaves
are stories of countries starving or self-destructing
you wonder how anyone can survive
in a world that’s grown so cold
you don’t understand their hatred
you can’t accept their apathy
you may feel the darkness all around you
but you will never be alone
because i won’t fade
i’ll be here for you
just like i’ve always been
