transient

First off, thank you from the bottom of my heart for checking out my poetry, photography, and songs. It is such an honor and privilege to know that you spent some of your valued time on one of the most revered aspects of my life: my creativity. My artistry is a direct view into the deepest aspects of my soul.

​I began writing back in 2006 at the age of 22 shortly after my mother died unexpectedly from cancer. Over a decade before I was officially diagnosed with depression, I started writing under the alias thethingsgreaterthanme because I didn’t have the confidence to write as myself. As I continued to write as an outlet for the darkness that seemed to engulf my world, I found joy in photography, exploring the Great Outdoors, and trying to pair some of my poems to music. If I could reach back in time, I would have prompted my 22 year-old self to create songs, as I find so much solace in heartfelt lyrics and music. Fortunately for me, I found light, strength, and hope in my daughter. I currently work as a Registered Nurse to try to help others and then write and snap photos in between my time with my daughter. I have been gifted with a stubborn optimism that unfortunately not everyone finds in life.
